i was cleaning my inbox and i thought, maybe i should document this
2025-09-22 //
- i recently switched from gmail to proton mail and that included two of my personal emails and my two business emails.
- during the switch i became aware of storage space. (something i am seriously lacking in my physical spaces FYI)
- because of this i have been adapting my email habits and best practices
- in gmail, every email would get read (or not read, outright IGNORED) and archived. out of sight, out of mind. except that every email archives means thousands of email i dont really need to reference again clogging up my digital space. so many emails i could have just deleted making my email archive rot
- i have started being more present with my inbox. some emails get archived, some get DELETED
- in my Ella Nym email i had created a filter that moved all my newsletter emails from substack automatically into a TBR folder… in less than a week that thing sported a number of 170+. instant overwhelm
- i have now started actively unsubscribing to emails i dont want to read by people i can't remember subscribing to
- impulse subscribing, active unsubscribing
- its no fault of the writer, i just want to recapture my attention and have better email spaces
- digital spaces are becoming more important to me as i learn to build websites.
